Hi

We are driving to France in 4 weeks time, from Calais to Curciat Dongalon. We are doing motorways all the way down. I have a couple of questions.

- On our return journey, we will be driving through the night. Do the motorway tolls still operate through the night? If they do, can you pay cash, as we don't have a credit card.

- Are there still petrol stations that accept cash? Like I said, we don't have a credit card, so will be using cash.

- On what days are supermarkets, particularly petrol stations closed.

I think that's it for now, but I'll probably end up asking more.

Thanks

Tolls are open 24/7 and take cash as do petrol stations;most big supermarkets are open everyday-all day Monday to Saturday and Sunday morning but for fuller details go to their websites-eg.Carrefour,Casino,Leclerc,Intermarche,Co-op,Atac..

Not all petrol stations take cash-some are prepay and can be pernickety about what card you use. I had to buy some petrol off a Frenchman once because I (thankfully) had cash but the pump wouldn't recognise my card!

Where will you get your cash? I got caught out the last time I was in France by the fact that French banks were closed on Mondays.

I wouldn't go abroad without a credit card,we use a M&S Mastercard no money on it.Payed out account once a month.Card has been accepted anywhere.Through the tolls in France used the card.Enjoy your trip we went beginning of the year from Calais to Lourdes.First stop from Calais was Chartres stopped overnight, nice clean town.
