1.4 TSI - VW Scirocco - Nociola

Am experiencing missfire problems with engine. Feb & now July this year. Car bought in Feb. 2010. Dealer co-operative but what are my rights re Warranty (poss. extension of) and/or claim under Sale of Goods Act ?

Sorry to hear that.

The dealer is permitted a 'reasonable' opportunity (usually deemed to be 3 attempts) to fix the problem. Misfiring in those engines in direct engines can be very bad news-the dealer needs to get it sorted.

Thanks for advice. Have now put my concerns in writing to Dealer. Waiting for their response.

Does the dealer know what is causing the misfiring problem ie is it an injector problem?

hi i work for vw, ring customer care explain whats happened and ask for goodwill on an extended warranty as you feel it may have caused longterm damage to other components regards.

Comments below taken from Warranty Invoices:

FIRST repair "swapped Cylinder 3 and 4 & reassembled. Misfire. swapped to Cyl.4, stripped down & replaced faulty injector". Also updated software. SECOND repair " Lapped in valves with grinding paste, refitted head & cam chain. Rechecked. Compressions still low on cylinder. Removed head & sump, removed piston 2 and found broken between rings, fitted new piston. Reset valve timing and fitted cover. Refill anti freeze & oil filter & oil to level. Clear faults. Road test OK".

I've done just over 4000 miles in between services.

Yup, the faulty injector washed the oil off the cylinder liners causing low compression. That engine definitely needs an extended warranty.

What chances of success if I push for replacement vehicle? !
