hi ya i have a rover tourer and i need to find out where the ignition module is i have changed the coil and the crank sensor they were of a 1.4 (would that make a difference ) but there is still no spark also changed lead to coil and rotory arm fuel is getting thru any help would be gratefully appricated

It might make a difference, yes. The Renault 1.4 of that vintage used a distributer and single point injection, the 1.6 used semi sequental injection and ignition. You need to be confident about the parts you're bolting on. Haynes manuals are cheap secondhand....

When you say fuel is 'coming through' do you mean fuel is being injected into the cylinders or merely that the fuel is going to the injectors? If you have neither fuel nor spark then in all probability there's no signal coming from the ECU.

Is that still a Honda engine in that one?

If so, the ignition firing module is on the side of the dizzy. They are known to give up and are one of the first things to look at / change when the thing decides not to spark.

If this is indeed the Honda-engined version (pls confirm), then it's almost certainly either the fuel injection Main Relay, and/or the ignitor module. The Main Relay is very easy to diagnose - look out for the specific sequence of clicks, lights and noises described at:

If the Main Relay is OK (and bear in mind it often fails intermittently due to dry solder joints) then suspect the ignitor.

apparently a mobile mechanic came out the other day b4 the coil was changed and said it is a rover engine (what difference that makes i dont know ) and as u say it could make a difference of a 1.4 gonna change it as a friend got it 4 me but didnt tell me they were off 1.4 till the other day not happy :-( will try this first and thanks as we may of saved it from being scrapped will keep updated might need more help ( i am female and dont even know what a coil looks like so gonna google one lol)
