Check the top engine mounting bolts, facing the engine bay they are to the left side of
the block on the top, fairly large bolt heads approx 1" diameter, there are two and they screw in from the top so only the nut head is visible
A few years ago I paid good money to a VAG trained independant mechanic ( read spanner monkey) to change the cam belt, several months later the car was making a feint clicking sound ( from front offside) when pulling away, then without warning the engine dropped about 3 inches and made a horrendous sound........the cause was failing to correctly tighten the top engine mount bolts.........pretty basic really all the monkey needed to do was use a torque wrench.
