Noticed in todays 'Daily Telegraph' that the advertisement for the Ford Focus has listed

'Vehicle illustrated includes non-metallic paint at additional cost'

They have always made an unjustified charge for metallic paint, now extended!

Noticed this. They've started charging for white... now only unpopular colours are "free"... ;)

White cars are the new trend at the mo. Ford are happily cashing in on this! It certainly seems to be popular for 4x4s and cross-overs (like the Ford Kuga) but it just makes the car look like a stormtrooper's hat.

Are you chaps actually bothered what colour your car is? I know yellow and orange are less popular for resale, and personally I wouldn't have a pink car, but otherwise I don't really care.

I have never got into the silver trend, although they don't show dirt they don't seem to shine like other colours. Management has a coffee coloured car which also hides dirt well but again doesn't gleam nicely when polished (by me!). My dark blue motor does polish up well though needs doing more often to keep it looking clean, but now my cars are more for driving rather than polishing.

Some colours seem to suit certain cars, the old Ford XR2, XR3 and XR4s all seemed to look best in white, to me anyway.

There are certain colours I would not have.

I think the XR2 association with brilliant white would put me off forever more. Red ages very badly. I tend to prefer the darker colours. I think they look smarter and age gracefully.

Bought a new Mazda a couple of years ago and was not aware that each model has its own paint range, i.e you can't get the same shade of blue for example on both a Mazda 2 and a 3. To the casual observer, they would look the same, however, apparently the shades are carefully chosen to suit the particular model. Not sure whether this is normal for manufacturers.
