Jaguar XF - Brake Discs - gary13

I have a 2010 XF 3.0 Diesel Auto. from new, just had second service at 32,000 miles, I was told the pads were 80% worn and should be replaced but also the discs were pitted and needed replacing too. Never replaced discs after 32,000 miles before, is this normal?

Seems to be increasingly common, some need replacing and some don't, many think it's a nice little earner for the garage, but a normally used auto can mean heavy brake use unless driven like a saint.

You can see the discs easily enough, is there a really pronounced edge lip say around 2mm, or can you indeed see the pitting yourself, what do your eyes tell you?

SWM's C2 VTS has covered just over 30k miles, i shall replace all discs when the pads are out, increasing wear ridge on front discs and too groovy rears for my liking....no comparison to your car but it seems to be how they go.

A 2010 car that has covered 32k miles in that short space of time must have spent most of its life on the motorway where brakes on a mile for mile basis are used the least.

80% worn just does not sound right.

At my last service a pads were reported as 50% worn having already covered 50k over 4years. I spend about 40% of my time on the motorway and drive an MPV.
