I live in a small village in a residential road with house on one side fields on the other, I live at number 6 of 6 houses, the road is pretty narrow and we all for obvious reasons park on the property side of the street.

I went to work on Friday morning to be asked by a work buddy "what the hell have you done to your car", on investigation the rear passenger side has three deep scrapes down the car some as low as the bottom of the sill rough estimate £1000 of repair bill (car is only woth £2000) i returned home no sign of the farmer (3 different farmers use our road as its a dead end onto their fields) so thus contacted the police. Very little help they were its 3 days now and they havent even been to look at my car, just details over the telephone. You can clearly see its been damadged by a farm implenmt not another car or van.

Is there anything else that I can do?

Perhaps try and get a sneak view at the suspect farm equipment and if you can spot your paint then call the plod again, after all its a hit and run !

I bet if you did it they would be on your tail !

Problem is the one farm is about 2 miles up a private drive,,,ive tried again this evening to see if there is any follow up only to be informed the pc concrened is putting someone in custody 20 miles away.

I have an old neighbour whos a inspector, will give him a call to see if he can help!

Go and see all of them in turn. The chances are the driver knows he hit it but without a witness, paint or an admission you cannot claim against anyone except your own insurance.

Ive been to see an Inspector friend he looked at the car,,he says if it comes to it they will measure the distance between scrapes down the side and look for an implement with relevant measurements, its now boiled down to the one single farmer as the other two havent been down for a while.

I have "farm implement" red on the wheel arch even some rust has scrapped on the car!
