Hi,
I am wondering if anyone can give me any advice on my licence being revoked. I was stopped yesterday morning by traffic police for using my mobile phone, normal procedures was about to happen until they checked my name......to then tell me my licence was revoked in 2008 for not surrending my licence to the court. I had no memory of sending my licence off but said I wasnt aware, the police advised that maybe I had a postman that doesnt deliver!!! I said this could not be the case as in May 2010, I was stopped(again for mobile) and they checked my name and issued the ticket and I left.
The traffic officers explained that for 3 years I had been driving with no licence, but was also confused about the penalty issued last year, after nearly 3 hours.....no dvla liason officer available, and a call to the court that issued the points in 2010, they "assumed" it was overlooked last year and therefore seized the car. I explained that its a company vechicle and that I could have someone with us in 10 minutes (half way through not at the 3rd hour), to which they refused and took the car.
Having been left in the street, extremly confused, concerned that I had been illegally driving for 3 years and would def lose my job, I made my way home. Having got home I looked at my licence to discover their are 3 points on the licence in 2008. I called the DVLA this morning to discover this is for offence and this is the reason my licence was revoked!!! I have now faxed my licence to them, once they see this they will update the sytem!!! In the mean time I had to inform work to get someone to collect the car, pay 170 pound, take 2 days off of work.
I am certain in the next few days that I will be able to drive again, but I have the following questions:
How to I guarantee from the dvla its been updated before I drive
Why the officers in 2010 never seized the car
How I get my money back and how i ascertain if it was the court not informing the dvla or the dvla not updating the system?
I am outraged at all the above and was made to feel like a criminal yesterday.
Thanks
