Ford C-MAX TDCi - Cleaning up after diesel leak in engine - Ravenger

I wasn't happy yesterday to find my newly serviced and MOT'd C-Max leaking diesel all over my drive.

Took it back to the small independent garage that serviced it and they found one of the nuts securing the injector pipes was loose. They tightened it up and that seems to have stopped the leak.

I'm very suspicious that the nut in question would suddenly be loose after a service, especially when they had trouble fitting the fuel filter. I've never had trouble with the fuel system before.

Needless to say there's diesel all over the engine. What's the best way to get the engine cleaned? Is a steam clean recommended these days?

I'm a little worried what damage the diesel could do to the rubber components in the engine.

I think the diesel will do less harm than whatever you'd have to use to clean it off with.

Diesel is not a solvent so shouldn't think it'll harm the rubber, plastic etc.

Spray on some engine de greaser such as Gunk then hose down the engine bay with a normal hose pipe.
