Hopefully its a one off but last night there was very loud music coming from a nearby location. At about 0100 hours I wandered outside thinking it was from a house across the road but found that I couldn't place the source. We live in a semi rural location and it could have been from quite a distance. I'm not sure what I would have done anyway!

I have to admit that once I hear this sort of thing I just can't stop listening to it and sleep is out of the question but I can't believe I am alone in being bothered by this sort of thing and I have been wondering it there was a remedy like calling the police, or whether we just have to put up with it until it becomes a real nuisance - by which time I would probably have gone mad!

Any advice please?

Couldve been a rave in a nearby field, in which case the Police are probably aware of it anyway. Very few establishments have a licence to play music past midnight.

You should try living where i do mate, surrounded by houses with screaming b***** children from sunrise to sunset. And am i the only person in Britain without a trampoline in my back garden?

Hi Jamie, yeh, like you say probably a party or something. Like the trampoline comment - got one both sides and next door to one of them too!

Thanks for the reply.

See, trampolines, unbelievable! Couple of years ago the fad was garden pools from Argos, now its trampolines.

Little s*** bag a few doors down thought it was perfectly ok to use my car as a football goal once, he soon learned that it was not ok what so ever.

Don't worry there will be a few cases of broken necks soon and fad will die out as quick as it appeared!!

Oh if only. The little s*** bag three doors down from me broke his leg when he fell off his a few months ago, it was peaceful for the following few months as a direct result of this.

Shame it wasnt his neck.

Antisocial behaviour loud music dogs barking continually, some people can make a thouroughly nuisance of them self or their children.

My father decided to leave our village where we lived as children very peacefully in the north of Holland to move to Rotterdam. He was a ships captain and frequentley arrived in Rotterdam. He didn't fancy the 4 hr train trip to our village so we ended up moving.

We lived in flats two storys and had stairs which passed the neighbours living quarters to go to bed.The noise we used to have to put up with and the aggro I can still remember.

I vowed as a child if i could afford it to live in a detached property as a adult.Which i have done now in the UK for the last 35 years.

I shouldn't write this but for some people and their behaviour the only answer is a shotgun.

Certain people, like the awful parents who fail to control their kids to the point where they run riot with no discipline, mainly because the parents are just as much of an antisocial loudmouth. I heard the mother of a young boy a few doors down from me tell the kid to f*** off and locked him outside just a few days ago. The sorts of kids who will only end up in prison and be a drain on society. The sorts of parents who think if they shout and swear enough they'll never have to get off their a*** and do anything. For these people, it'd be better for all future generations and future taxpayers if such people were shot in the face.

And i'd be happy to volunteer.

I'd love to believe all people are good etc but for some people there is just no hope is there.

Some of the folk near me aren't bad people but they are very soft parents and let their kids play out in the garden (on the trampoline funnily enough) screaming and shouting until all hours.

I think it was on the Daily Mail web site where they asked a survey question on whether it was considered that soft parenting is the cause of many child related problems and the yes vote was 93%. Hadn't seen such an overwhelming majority before and surely an indication that we aren't the only ones that it gets to.

Daily Mail readers believe Gays, Working Mothers, Immigrents and the abolishment of the death penalty is responsible for all ill in the entire world.

I used to be involved running a kids rugby league team. There where some great kids with a lot of potential but some of them didn't stand a change their parents often single where either on drugs or alcoholics and the kids where left to their own devices.

In the end soceiity has to pay the price which isn't cheap in mental problems and the cost of getting a person back on the right track.

I dont blame the kids, they're the product of a bad enviorenment.

But in the case where i caught the kid kicking a football against my car, there was no point in going to the parents as i knew they'd do nothing so i just told him that if he does it again i'll kick his teeth down his throat.

Now he daren't come near my house.

Job done :)

You are 26 Jamie my kicking teeth days are over at 61.Mine is more the would you mind approach.Unless I get my samory (spelling?) out.:)

What to do? - Loud Music at Night - jamie745

Unfortunatley the would you mind approach doesnt work with dilinquent thick children. I find scaring the living hell out of them is the only practical approach.

Samurai sword eh? Interesting. I was debating a crossbow myself. Like Rambo.

Seriously with all the good weather as of late this may have just been a bbq that went well and the crowd got a little carried away with the party atmosphere.

Ear plugs i wear as im a shift worker and used to noise at all times of day.

If it was a party good for them if it's regular you could ask them to turn it down by eleven.

What to do? - Loud Music at Night - jamie745

The bass tune from a social club on a saturday night, cars going past in the day time after a night shift etc is all perfectly acceptable in my view. Children outside from sunrise till sunset screaming like neanderthals and kicking s*** out of everything is not acceptable.

And those b***** trampolines...

Berrflump!! Berflump!! Berlump!!! BEFLUMP!!! BEFLUMP!!!

I feel sorry for shiftworkers I did shifts for all my working live and payed the price with my health.

Best thing to have a day job and a bit less money in bed every night. We used to do quik changeovers midweek and I never got enough sleep.Always playing catch up.

Sods law there was always a problem on quikchanges trying to sort it half a sleep.

We used to live in a semi-rural area, and had the same occasional problem. As you've found out, it's often very difficult to work out exactly where it is. I recall ringing the poilce once, but it's difficult if you don't know whereit is.

I believe that the council have to act on it, and that there is usually a round the clock service for this sort of thing. Might be worth giving both the police and the council a ring after the event to find out what to do next time it happens (as it probably will, even if it's not the same culprits).

What to do? - Loud Music at Night - Dutchie

The council have but like anything it is a long winding process.

These people who cause problems be it in gardens loud music shouting or swearing are not easy to deal with and they are a nuisance,

Having a party in the garden or wherever is understandable once in a while and letting the neighbours know what goes on does help.
