Anyone know much about these? The Nissan dealer where I bought my Almera from also sells Suzukis and there are quite a few new shape Swifts and SX4s locally. ( I'm not keen on the current Nissan range at all). I did drive an old shape Swift as a courtesy car eight years ago and it was horrible, but seemingly the new models are light years ahead of the old Swift and the SX4 looks good.

I've got a 2007 Swift and I think it is an underrated but great car.

Compact, great handling, and fun to drive. The 1.5 engine (not available on the latest model) has plenty of go when wound up. You get lots of kit for not a lot of money.

The latest model is slighty larger and has a 1.2 engine.

Hello, Doc, they do seem like decent cars and are a lot cheaper than Toyotas, which have become very overpriced. Also the dealer is a family business with a very good reputation.

Weve had a 1.3 Swift for 2 years - excellent car. Drives very well, excellent value and no problems. I cannot understand why they're not more popular, we would certainly have one again

They are quite popular in Cumbria as two large dealerships sell them. I was considering a Ford Fiesta, but not mentioning any names, but the local main dealer, which is a franchise, has a bad reputation. Also since I bought my Almera from the Nissan/Suzuki dealer, I mght get a better deal.

The Swift appears cheaper than the corresponding Toyota - the Yaris - but it depends on how you are paying for it. Elder daughter looked at a 1.5 Swift in 2009 after three Yarises, and liked it, but on a PCP it was more expensive per month. So she is very happy with her fourth 1.3 Yaris.

They dropped the 1.5 engine for the new model, but the new 1.2 is said to perform equally well. You'd need to test drive one to find out, but it's worth also seeing what sort of deal you could get on a Yaris.

I know the Yaris is about 20 pc more expensive locally, but is better known than the Swift. What I also like about the Swift is the trip computer, which is important in the current climate. Seemingly the 1.5 can really move.

I've been considering swapping my 1.8 Almera in for a new (ish) 1.6 Suzuki SX4,

I Haven't test driven one yet, but they check out well on Hj & Parkers,

A million mile from the Suzuki's I remember from 10 or more years ago!

I like 'em P, worth checking out the Fiat dealer's version (Sedici) too P.

I know this is a'gonna sound *really* stupid gord but, I wouldn't feel too happy about owning an Italian car :) yes' yes. I know they're made in the same factory in Hungary (and all that)

How's Mrs bennets C2 getting on? has the head gasket blown yet (I jest)

One thing that lets me orf the Fiat, is that it isn't available in automatic where as the Suzy is :-)

The Yaris is a safe buy, but I like the Swift as well. I would have one over a Mini. The 1.6 sport looks a stonker.
