CITROEN C5 2.2 HDI - Help with my 'limping home' C5 - Royce

I recently bought this car and, from the off, I've been getting a series of error messages randomly. Everything from tyre(s) punctured - they're not, to 'Anti-Pollution Fault' and 'Deisel Additive Low" - stopping the car and restarting has got rid of the messages briefly.

Two days ago, the STOP warning came on along with the 'Tyre(s) punctured' message and, when I got the the roundabout and tried to pull away, there was hardly any power. No matter how hard I push the accelerator, I pull away very slowly indeed. I can get a top speed of 50mph and lose power dramatically on any slight climb.

I understand there are lots of error messages on this model.

Can you help me to sort this out? PLEEEEEASE.

The tyres are a simple problem you have sensor failure the easiest method is to have the system turned off requires connecting up to the computor at main agents a common fault.

The Anti pollution problem is a little bit more complex the causes of the problem are low additive or failed DPF but by the sounds of it you only have low fluid level. You can either take the car to a citroen main agents or you can buy the eoly fluid and fill it youself. The fluid costs around £12 litre and its not easy to fill there is a tank under the car rear left but you fill I believe under the front left hand wing(I think). The warning light will go off after a short time.Once the eoly system gets completely saturated with pollutents then all the fluid must be changed and sometimes the DPF do not try and run the car as you will probably ruin the DPF these can be bought of fleabay at £350+.

You can have the whole system removed which entails removing the DPF and having the program in the ECU rewritten to remove the DPF from the system cost around £450.Citroen/peugeot can charge upwards of £1200 for a full DPF service so do your homework a suggestion is that you look on one of the web sites or speak to a specialist on this system

Unfortunately you have to tell the car how much eolys fluid you've put in - the ECU works out it's low on fluid based on how much it has calculated it has used. You need the car to be hooked up to a Lexia at your "friendly" Citroën dealer.

One or more of your tyre-pressure sensors is gubbed, you could try changing each wheel in turn with the spare and hope that sorts it. Again a new sensor has to be calibrated with the ECU by a dealer on his Lexia. As Andy has pointed out this system can be deactivated.

Citroën charge about £200 a throw for each pressure sensor - they can be bought for about £60 each at places like eurocarparts.

If you do a forum search in ' Technical ' with keyword ' eolys ' you will find a lot of info about the DPF system.

It can be fixed DIY if you're handy with a few spanners & a jetwash.

Its showing low level of fluid using a jet wash to clean it is a pointless execise in this situation it requires topping up with new fluid. The permenant solution is to remove it completely using a jet wash in the DPF filter can and often does cause so much damage the only recourse is to fit a new one.

Jetwash is the cheapest & easiest way to clean the DFP.

If you fill up the Eolys container the system continues to pump fluid even though it will still put up the ' Low Fluid ' alarm.

My C5 was still running with no problems ( but still showed the fluid alarm ) 1 year after cleaning the DPF & replenishing the Eolys.

Eolys will cost about £100 & jetwash is free if you have one.

Doing away with the DPF completely will set you back 4 or £500 but would be the best solution if you're going to keep it for some time.

Hi did you find a solution to this issue? I've got a similar issue now. And The Lexia won't communicate with my car too.
