my friend has got a micra 1992 1,.0 injection when trying to start it,it tries to fire but wont actuallly start there is fuel and the fuel pump is working and the is a spark im thinkin there might be a problem with starting it when its cold as im told when it does run it runs fine any help would be gratfeful

I suspect it petrol washed ! These suffer from this if they are started up and just moved and switched off again, ie at weekend on a driveway.
Need to take the plugs out add, few drops of engine oil in the plug holes, very quick spin on starter, then dry plugs and refit. There is also a modified coolant sensor loom that has a resistor fitted to try and reduce this effect.
alternative it may start with a tow, but before all this its worth checking that the cam belt is sound.
