Vauxhall Zafira B - Zafira B electrical problems - ml320

I wonder if anyone has experienced this before. My wifes Zafira 1.6 club has stopped working. There is no power going to anything apart from stereo, electric windows and interior lights. There is no ignition lights when the key is turned and I cannot even lock the car as the central locking is not working with either the fob, or key. However, when I towed it to the dealer, the electrics came on ( as soon as I stopped they went off again ). The engine still would not start though. I have tested the battery which is ok, tried the spare key, which still does nothing and tried my fault code reader, which would not even power up. The dealer put it on their computer, and told me "it could be the fuse box" at a cost of £378.00 fitted. The dealer also said there is a backlog of fuse boxes on order. If this is the case, is this a common problem? Any ideas will be much appreciated.

I would start by checking the fuses in the engine bay electric relay/fusebox,located by the battery. There have been a number of issues with these fuseboxes relating to ingress of water due to the lid not being fitted/locked down correctly and thus rotting the connection pins on the underneath. Also take a look at the rear electric box ,in boot behind panel in left rear wing.Make sure the large connector with 2 heavy red leads is secure and making good contact.hth

Hi. Thanks for your help. I checked all fuses and relays, and found evidence of some water ingress under the bonnet fuse box. The contacts of some relays had turned green. The dealer also said the fuse box lid was broken. Have you heard of this before? If so would I be able to ask Vauxhall to fix the problem?

Hi

Zafira B electrical problems

Just read your post on honest john regarding water ingress into fuse box on your Zafira, same as happened to mine went in with brake lights on & not starting, AA code read it as CIM fault vauxhall dealer retrieved several codes & told me it was fuse box, when i talked to vauxhall customer service they said its not a known fault & that i had to pay [£540] to get the vehicle out of the dealers, now when i press the brake pedal the engine revs go up. Did you have any joy with vauxhall.

Regards Ian

I know this is an old post but this just happenned to me. I was fitting a new parrot to my zafira and it was working fine. At the end of the installation I lost all power except to the stereo, windows and interior light as mentioned. After a sleepless night knowing that my wife would moan like merry hell that I should leave things alone, I woke early 5.30 am and did some internet research. This thread came up first, but did not have an answer. After some more googling and several un-answered threads later. There was a lot of talk about Steering control module. Fuse 34 in your manual is a 7.5A and protects the control unit for the steering control module. Try checking this as mine had blown. I post this as a possible quick fix to this problem and hope it saves any one a restless night!!! Happy days!

Vauxhall Zafira fuse box fault - melste

can anyone please help me with a great deal of urgency!

My zafira is currently with vauxhall, it's got 3 months left of the warrenty and they are hell bent on not giving an inch!

On Saturday morning the car was 'trying to start itself' with no one in it, the doors were locked and we were in the house. To cut a long story short, vauxhall are saying that the lid of the fuse box has not been replaced proprley and water has got in and corroded all the connections etc inside the box. It's so bad that everything is green.

We've only had the car for about 18 months and we have never touched the fuse box, although we've had nothing but problems with this car since we got it.

Vauxhall are saying that because this fault is not a technical fault as someone hasn't replaced the lid properly, the work cannot be completed under warrenty and they want to charge us over £500 to fix it. We've already got a bill for £65 for the diagnostic check that they've done.

I've spoken to vauxhall head office who have said that they've never heard of any common fault with the fuse box lid before but from reading what everyone else has put, I'm clearly not the first.

I would be extremenly gratefull if anyone that has experienced the same thing could come forward, and let me know which part of the country you live in, I can at least then argue my case again with conviction with the vauxhall head office.

Thanks

This maybe too late for you but my Zafira is at the Vauxhall dealer now after braking down with a car and spanner warning light and the traction control light as it applied its own breaks while I was driving.

I pulled over and turn off the engine. When I restarted the engine the engine rev'd continuously to red line, without me touching the accelarator and was therefore undriveable.

After about 40 minutes I started the car again and could drive it with the warning light on, to the garage.

The Vauxhall dealer have now informed me the Zafira (57 Plate) has a corroded fuze box and they will let me know if this is covered under my warranty.

My Network Q warranty is supposed to cover all electrical faults, so I don't see how a fuze box isn't obviously an electrical fault and therefore covered.

Does anyone know if this should be covered under a Network Q warranty?

I know this post is suuuuppeeerrrr old now but did you ever find a solution to this issue? My 57 plate, 1.6, Zafira did this yesterday morning and after a while of checking every electrical component I could get my hands on, I had absolutely no luck. I've not seen a solution to this problem anywhere. Don't want to take it in and pay hundreds costs for towing, diagnosis and resolving the issue when it could possibly be a very simple fix

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem as I am having the same issue no power when I turn the ignition only the radio comes on. I have replaced the fuze box but still no joy?
