Mercedes-Benz C-Class - Hesitant wiper - dodo

Our family 2000 Merc C 180 has a very hesitant front wiper. Sometimes it works while at other times it just stops. I have checked the fuse but all seems well. Any ideas?

Is this a 202 model (single wiper)or a 203 model(twin wiper).?

Its a w202 single wiper model - last of the old shape.

The most likely problem is the motor is on its way out - replacment motors are not cheap!

I was £500 for tow home in rain and new motor ? local MB Emporium i 1998!

Bought Japanese since and I have not spent £500 on repairs in 13 years since

Motors can certainly be a problem on these,but often fail because the linkage starts to seize.The sweep and rise and fall of the single wiper arm linkage is very complicated action and very expensive to replace.hth
