Vauxhall Insignia - Weak Clutch? - noel12




My Insignia covered only 3,800 miles before the clutch and DMF failed. Bill for £1680. Anyone else with this problem on low mileage Insignias?
Why the Insignia was awarded the 2009 "Car of the Year Award"? The more I read about VX faulty DMFs and clutches, the more I despair. Pity the senior management didn`t share the same attitude and stopped playing the "wear and tear" get out of jail free card.

I'd be having all the parts removed from the car inspected by an engineer.

Then off to the small claims court if appropriate.

When Vauxhall were replacing Astra H and Zafira B clutches and flywheels under warranty due to clutch judder, a figure of 18,000 miles was often stated as the mileage Vauxhall would consider the clutch to be still within warranty especially as at 3,800 miles I guess car is not 12 months old? They were throwing in free flywheels as part of the repair package and issued a technical bulletin to their dealers to replace clutch/flywheel when a customer complained about judder.

Are you sure you were persistant enough with your warranty claim? A different VX dealer can often take a totally different view to a warranty claim to a difficult one.

Sent you the details Lucy. Many thanks for your interest. As you can see, I contacted the senior management of VX UK and it was a pointless exercise. I feel you will have an uphill fight on your hands.
