Last week I went to fill up a hire car at the BP forecourt on the A40 west of Oxford.

Could not get the diesel pump nozzle to go into the filler. Eventually another Mondeo owner came to help and noticed that the nozzle was too small. The diesel hose was fitted with a petrol nozzle! I filled up from another pump and complained to the manager. While I was complaining another customer came over and stated that this same nozzle had broken his Ford diesel filler two weeks earlier. I went into the same garage this morning and still nothing has been done, not even an "out of order" tag on the hose. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that he was busy and I would have to wait for 20 min.

If anyone believes they have a diesel into petrol car misfuelling problem recently from this garage then I am happy to be a witness.

Why not e-mail BP about this - much better than dealing with the seemingly indifferent manager! The company may also be interested in the publicity this issue is attracting on this forum.

They probably dont see it as a problem, as long as the correct fuel is coming out of the hose. What they dont realise is that the current shape mondeo has the special filler entry, to prevent misfueling. They probably just think you are bonkers and dont realise the issue.

But the other customer I suspect damaged the filler by forcing it!

Had problems at a Texaco garage,complained to Texaco and got an outstanding response!!Full tank and double my money back!!!

I had a Mondeo hire car last year, first time I'd used the new filler system and it took me ages to get the nozzle into the system as it did need a good push. I can therefore appreciate how you could break the filler if the incorrect nozzle was fitted.

Don't think BP run these petrol stations. BP just rent out the badge. There's not much profit in the retail side. And a lot of tiresome detail.

BP does not need anymore negative publicity there name is on the badge.The manager on this forecourt should get his act together and listen to the customers.To much of this couldn't care less attitude is going on whilst drivers ar paying a lot of money for their fuel.

i remember not so far back , bp garages , the stored petrol tanks rusting and petrol getting into water table.

in bp garage today and you wonder why they can't colour code the pumps better.

then whem you want a vat receit it's a great long real of paper

Update, Thanks to suggestions I emailed BP and Trading Standards.

No reply yet from BP but Oxfordshire Trading Standards say that there is nothing they can do because "it is not illegal".

Well done to the OP but I'm guessing that garage is probably only a BP franchaise. Hope you can find and challenge the REAL owner.

My local Billericay BP is pretty shoddily run too and at tip top fuel prices. Five times I went in there and they didn't have any LPG. Oh just run out, the old pumps broken again..the new pump has teething troubles..oh we've just run out (well why not put a freekin note on the pump then genius'). So I gave up on them.

A plague on their house! I now use a local Texaco.

I'm a high mileage regular cash customer and frankly if they treat their customers that way they deserve to be boycotted. BP -I spit in your general direction!
