A similar thing happened to my grandfather-it's quite common. In a final bid to stave off the inevitable, they buy an automatic and find the clutch wasn't the problem. The indignity of losing their driving licence is compounded by a heavy fiscal loss.
Auctions are not known for selling cars at top dollar prices...
The price is a bit low. If you live close to your father, you could try to sell it on his behalf privately. I would ask £8000, and accept anything over £7,500. You can't charge dealership prices-be realistic and get the painful process over asap. This is what we did for my grandfather. However, the only interested buyer was a dealer! I think you might fare better with the Hyundai.
