VW Passat 2001 - VW Brake Leak - Caliper Cable Attachment - crossfieldballs

Hi all,

My rear brake is leaking. It seems to be coming from the seal between the caliper's cylinder and the parking brake mechanism attached to it, the bit that gets rotated when the cable is pulled. It's a sort of spring-loaded tap thing, mounted by a screw...(which doesn't seem to budge...) When the cable is pulled, the thing rotates but brake fluid drips down from the cyclinder. Hard to see exactly because it's behind the caliper. The Haynes manual I have doesn't elaborate on it (which seems a bit of a swiz)...does anyone here know anything about it, please?

Thanks,

Terry

You either fit a new caliper or recon your existing unit both ways you will have to remove it ,a recon kit is around £25 and a complete caliper around £80 have a look on ebay there are plenty avialable.
