Are the new cylinders the right ones?

Have you got the brake shoes on correctly?

Have you tried putting the old cylinders back in to see if you can get the brakes hard again?

Is the system leaking fluid?

yer there the right ones and the shoes are on right but i havent tried putting the old ones back on i didnt actually think of that and the system isnt leaking but i have put about 3 4 litres of brake fluid through the system and the pedal is still to the floor??

does anyone think it might b to do we the new cylinders?

Remove a drum and peal back the piston dust cover and measure the diameter of the piston and compare it to the old one. Is the auto adjustor working, does the hand brake work. Have you bled the entire system front , ABS pump and rear brakes in the prescribed manner. Regards Peter

What year car is this and does the pedal fade away from you or reach the floor. Regards Peter

Are you uising a bleeding kit or two people to bleed the brakes?

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - nickskyline

two people but about to try pressured bleeding kit but not 100 percent sure how it works do i still need someone to open and close the nipple on the brakes and someone pumping the pedal???

thank you

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - nickskyline

but im getting fluid out of all nipples so does anyone think i need a new master cylinder.

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - Peter D

Do you have a manual and did you follow the sequence. Have you bleed all wheels. Can you answer the questions and my previuos psots. Regards Peter

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - nickskyline

its 1998 model and there is just nothing in the pedal atall. yep read the manual bleed it how it says all wheels in the order it says and cant get no pressure but got fluid at all the npples??

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - madf

I have a horrible feeling that if using two people, the person who is at the nipple is not closing it down soon enough and air is re-entering the brakes at the nipple.. Are you using a tube with a non return valve?

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - nickskyline

umm no just a normal pipe? but i was doing clossing and i was shutting way before the pedal came up should i try again and make sure of it?

and some said it might need a new master cylinder do you now how i would tell??

thank you for your help very appreciated

Before you worked on the brakes the master cylinder piston was being pushed down probably just 1/3 of the master cylinder bore, so this part of the cylinder gets polished up & worn into the seal on the piston.

When you push the pedal to the floor during bleeding, the master cylinder piston with its seal get pushed down the last 2/3 of the bore where they havn't been before. In an old car this can rip the seal lips & so you loose your pressure.

Get a pressure bleeder & bleed again according to the instructions. If you still then cannot get a firm pedal suggest you get a new master cylinder.

You have a post in discusion about this, dont you read it

you really should get a one way valve bleeder its easier,as someone said I suspect you have put air back in the system while bleeding, also when the person on the pedal pushes pedal to floor its held there untill you lock off the bleeder then the pedal is released I bet thats where your going wrong

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - nickskyline

i understand what you are saying but there is no air getting back in

Vauxhall Corsa sport 1600cc dohc - help with brakes - sb10

Try clamping the flexi pipe/s on each side then press the pedal to check if its solid if it is you still have a problem with the rears,if its not solid then its another fault possibly the master cylinder

Its also possible the bleeder valve isnt seating properly allowing the air back in even though it seems to seal, other wise check out the wheel cylinder seals to see whether they are leaking?

Have you sorted it yet ???
