2003 mercedes A class A170 cdi - Air bubbles in fuel line - tester0033

My wifes Merc has just started cutting out or just will not start. It starts if given a blast of easy start but this is not a solution. It may cut out after 5 minutes or it could run for a week without any trouble. When the problem occurs the clear plastic fuel pipe from the filter to the high pressure valve is just a constant stream of bubbles.I have replaced the filter and seals but the connector which connects the pipe to the filter is a pathetic flimsy plastic clip and only seems to seal if you push on it.At the moment it is held down tight with a couple of cable ties which seem to work ok, but I would appreciate comments from anyone who has or has had the same problem.

Fuel pump in tank intermittent?

2003 mercedes A class A170 cdi - Air bubbles in fuel line - elekie&a/c doctor

I think i would replace the pipes .These cheap and nasty fuel lines are fitted to many Merc diesel models and they all seem to give problems once they become a few years old and the plastic securing claws becomes brittle.I don't think this model has a pump in the tank.hth

Thanks for the advice, I have looked at several newer versions of this model and they all seem to have metal securing clips making the pipe much tighter.I think this will be my step.

Hi, my partners A Class is suffering the same problem. Have had fuel filter and connecting pipes replaced without success. Have now been told next step is to remove the manifold which is costly to see if there are any leeks in the pipes. Did you cure your problem.

Regards

Alan
