In case this applies to anyone else...
I had no idea what was causing 5 beeps in a 2005 Focus. I found lots of suggestions..SRS module, broken circuits under the passenger seat, instrument cluster lights, pressure sensor rezeroing... nuts.
I ended up buying a bluetooth code reader, a nice toy to have, and it wasn't pulling any relevant codes.
Finally, after I don't know how long, I tried buckling my seat belt before turning on the ignition. I never do things in that order. I usually get in the car, put in the keys, and crank the engine. It wouldn't make sense to put in the keys, let go of them to buckle up, and then go back to crank the engine. If I hadn't been fiddling with things, I never would have tried this, but I did, from the passenger seat actually, AND THERE WERE NO BEEPS!!!!!!!! grrr. I was sitting there in the passenger seat, with my seatbelt on and fuming. It couldn't be that stupid.
Just to double check, I got out, went around to the driver's seat, sat down, closed the door, and buckled up. I cranked the engine, and again, NO BEEPS!!!!!
Don't you think it would be nice to include this in the #@$$%ing manual???? No, it just says, "A series of five beeps will be heard. The tone pattern will repeat periodically until the problem and warning light are repaired"
Note - buckling your seatbelt "repairs" the warning light.
