Ford Mondeo 97 1.8 zetec - heater controls - fordy 1

has anyone had trouble adjusting direction of air,ie face,feet,screen etc.turn the knob but always stays on screen

heat adjustment worksfine

The air distribution system on these works on engine vacuum.A loss of vacuum results in the system defaulting to defrost/demist screen only.You need to check the vac take off pipe in the engine bay that is connected to the back of the inlet manifold and connects to the bulkhead near the heater coolant pipes.hth

thanks for your help,but which pipe is it, is it the very thin pipe or the bigger one.are the heater pipes behind the manifold or to one side

If you can locate the 2 heater pipes that exit the cabin,very low down on the bulkhead,there is a thin bore plastic vac pipe that runs along side.This is the main vac supply to the heater controls.hth
