I have recently purchased the above car and it came fitted with a stop/start system. Whilst the Car and economy has been excellent thus far the stop/start seems a bit intrusive. As an example. the wife was driving home last night and slowed down into 2nd gear for a speed bump. She had the clutch depressed whilst braking and took her foot of the clutch at approx 5mph and pressed the accelarator (In 2nd Gear). At this point the engine cut out and she lost all asistance to the steering. After a second the engine fired again and all was restored. This was alittle disxconcerting to her as she was on a corner at the time with oncoming traffic.

Similiar things have happened to me, normally at a roundabout pulling of in 2nd gear whilst crawling ahead.

Is this just our poor driving or is the system not quite right?
