bad driving - dk81

Hi,

Is there a formal process of complaining about bad driving. This happened when someone just cut in front of me, very closely. Or should i just bear it silently.

Thanks

Who would you send it to? What would happen next?

If it was extremely bad you could take the offender's reg number and report them to the police, but if everyone did that the police would be snowed under with reports (mainly trivial) of alleged bad driving.

And there's nothing to prove what you are saying...it's your word against the word of the other driver who would undobutedly claim they did nothing wrong.

What constitutes "bad driving" is largely personal opinion. You may say someone "just cut in front of me" but they might argue that what they did was perfectly ok and what are you worrying about.

How do you decide when something is so bad it would need reporting, amd when it is just a case of "let the idiot go, I can't be bothered"

I think you answered your own question. "Just bear it silently"

...and standpoint at the time. I had a chunky austrian lorry driver berating me in a supermarket car park this evening. I had the temerity to brake when a car on my right started to pull out in front of me from a petrol station as I approached (think driving on the right here), in order to turn left. He eventually saw me, but I braked to avoid a collision, at which point he was one-third across my carriageway. I then flashed him to carry on with his left turn, as the road was clear of oncoming traffic, which he did. When I pulled into the supermarket, the lorry driver told me he considered I was in the wrong because "he had 35 tons of weight and couldn't stop quickly" despite the fact he was around 25 yards behind me when I braked. So firstly, why didn't he see the situation developing despite his elevated view (probably because he was on his mobile), and secondly, why was he travelling at a speed from which he couldn't safely stop (if he'd been in my position he would have t-boned the car)? He clearly thought he was in the right. I'm happy I was guilt-free. We both feel wronged.

What made it amusing afterwards is that he probably thought my wife was driving as we have a locally registered RHD car and I was driving at the time....

There, I feel better now.
