rear o/s wheel locking, so car cannot move forwards or backwards. handbrake lever is off.

was parked on drive last friday and discovered this on monday, working ok before.

could it be that the rear brake o/s shoes are stuck as a result of the handbrake cable or other cause ?

could be a fault or could just be that the brakes were wet when you parked up and the shoe has rusted to the drum over the weekend.
If the car is securely chocked with the H/brake off clouting the wheel with a large block of wood or sand hammer may just release the shoes due to teh shock. With steel wheels remove the plastic trim first & clout the wheel top and bottom and left & right

You'll probably find that a brake shoe lining has broken away from the shoe itself. It's very common on Peugeot and Citroen models. The easiest way to remove the drum is with a slide hammer, but if you don't have one you'll have to keep tapping and levering the drum until it comes off.....
