Hi,

I have a Vauhall 51 Plate 1.4 16v Petrol Astra. For a while now the EML has been on and this is due to the car having multiple misfire, misfire in the 3rd cylinder. I have had it into a garage and everytime I have it back it will run for a week or two and then start misfiring again.

At the garage I have had a compression test done and the results are correct, replaced the fuel rail, spark plugs, coil pack (first a new delphi and then a 2nd hand original manufacturers), it has gone to an auto-electrician and they found no problems. I have cleaned up the EGR valve to see if any performance gain but to no luck.

The car feels clunky turning over and when travelling it feels as if I have gone up too many gears the feel of no power to go forward (almost as if the engine is sufficating). I have to stop the car on the trip to work (luckly only 4 miles) and when it starts again its pot luck it will either run well or clunky again. If you can help me as I do like the car but not the problems!!
