Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero 2.8 TD - Pajero fuel BP diesel - pajero owner

My Pajero only likes BP diesel. Put anything else in and the engine management light comes on and the engine gets a "diesel" rattle. I've had new injectors but that didn't fix it and a new pump is a lot of money.

Does anyone have a similar problem or does anyone know what is in BP that is different from other fuels?

depending on where the Pajero was originally imported from the pump settings are different for different fuel ranges & climate. I have come across this issue many times before and there used to be some diesel specialist around that used to change the pump calibrations to suit UK derv.
