Audi A4 Avant Tdi 1.9 - Air mass meter problems - airmassheadache

I recently fitted a new air mass meter (205,000 miles) as I'd noticed loss of power and smoke which were not evident when the AMM was unplugged. The symptoms remained, even after fault codes were reset at a local garage.

Anyone know what i need to do to get the car to run properly and smokeless with the new AMM plugged in?
