Hometune Service? Good Value? - peteH
Hi.

I am looking for someone to service my Fiat Brava. The local fiat dealer is offering a 41point service for £69 (
www.arnoldclark.co.uk/service/41pointservice.htm) but following the other posts on this group about arnold clark - it looks like a company that should be missed.

A friend has his Landrover serviced by the local Hometune guy, and has recommended him (I guess Hometune all depends on the local guy you have in your area, as the company operates as a franchise)

The Hometune premier service is a 58point service with new air filter/plugs for £99.95. The standard service is a 49point service (no plugs/air filter/or tune up). A quick look at the fiat book suggests that the premier service is more comprehensive that the Hometune work (the only missing item I can see is no new fuel filter)

Has anyone else used hometune? Would you recommend then? and the service they carry out?? Any idea what oil they are using?

Below is a copy of there service sheet and the checks they carry out.

Hometune Service? Good Value? - Claude
Whats the significance of the repeated words under some of the above items. for eample 'check check' or 'stamp stamp' ?

What do the starred items number 49-55 mean. Not included or included at extra cost or someting else ?

Whoops. Formatting went a bit strange

Would have only posted the link to the page - but kwik fit insist in using a javapage?? rather that a page you can link to.

The first line relates to the standard service (i.e check or adjust or replace etc) The second line relates to a premier service. The starred items do not apply to Diesel??

Try Lex Autocentres, although they seem to vary by branch - one of the two I've used had ex-main dealer mechanics, and I was very impressed with attitude & service. The other was crowded and disorganised, wouldn't go back there. I think I'd rather take it somewhere like Lex - how is the Hometune guy going to get underneath & do some of the checks properly, let alone spot things he wasn't planning to look at?

Apparantly with the landrover, the hometune guy came to my friends house. Did most of the work on the drive, and then took the car up to the local kwik fit (1/2 mile or so away) to use there ramp. Will check out lex tho.

just a quick question. Can I ask how much Lex charged for a service? and for what car? I will contact them tomorrow - but though I might get a quicker reply here!

I note that have three levels (interim, full, and major) (www.nationwideautocentres.co.uk/pdf/csmaPosterSept...f)
