Vauxhall corsa B - replace fanbelt - fat boy fat

My sons Corsa 1.2 16v T reg has just started to shred its fanbelt. I hope to change it this weekend. it still runs but only has 3 quarters of belt width left :-(

1. is it easy for a reasonable competent dad to do and are special tools req'd

2. what would cause the shredding? wear of fault

Cheers

this is my first post be gentle

If the Corsa B is anything like the Corsa C you'll need a torx socket to take the left / front engine mounting off. T14?

Then its just sling it on. wind up the tensioner clockwise with another socket, T14, 16, 18, I cannot remember. Or vice grips

Is there a special type box spanner etc for the V14's on engine mount as there is very little room between chasis & engine mount. Loo forward to hearing from any body with advice as to where to obtain 1, i've tried all the usual places, vauxhall garage, machine mart local tool stockists!

if it's shreading it usually points to a mis alignment, so check for wear on the tensioner pulley or bearing as you may have to replace at the same time
