Ford Focus - Hardly any fresh air - cruz

Just aquired a 2004 Ford Focus before that I had an old N reg Micra

My question relates to the fresh air intake on the car. When driving there never seems to be all that much fresh air entering the cabin. The car soon feels a bit stuffy until I turn on the blower then I get plenty of fresh air.

Is this standard with newer cars as I am used to the comfortable and plentiful ventilation I get in my 1983 VW camper?

In common with most modern cars, very little air enters the cabin unless the blower motor is switched on.I would guess it is related to the aero dynamics of cars where the air flows over the bodywork to reduce drag.On some cars,if the blower is switched to "off",a flap shuts off any incoming air.hth

Welcome to the Forum, Cruz.

Pollen Filter? Just a guess, I`ve never owned one.

I changed the tatty and twig littered pollen filter yesterday.

Maybe this is how modern cars are. I never noticed much fresh air entering the Micra whereas in my old transporter fresh air piles in.
