Hi madf,
When I first called the AA patrolman when he couldn't figure it out got in touch with AA tech resources who said they hadn't come across a similar problem. He had checked the air conditioning switch and it kept ticking whether dash switch was on or off. Aircon still works fine.
It was Peugeot Garage that found that re-circulation switch when on - stopped the ticking. The switch you mention is it the one on the dash that needs replacing or elswhere? Is it expensive or could I get one from local car dismantler?
I had the car from 50,000 miles and its been superb no problems at all and its now at 125,000 miles and got through it's MOT with no problems. Best Car I've ever owned.
I once worked as a garage mechanic in the days of Jaguar MK9 and Renault Dauphine 1958.
Andy,
The Garage is a Peugeot Garage and they are prepared to investigate but not even the old-timers at the garage had ever heard such a noise before.
Thanks for all the advice.
Colin
