Daewoo Lanos 1.6 petrol. - Daewoo Lanos running rich and 'shunting' - therecklessengineer

My friend has the above vehicle. The original fault was a snapped timing belt. This was repaired by myself - head off, all valves checked, 2 replaced. New belt, new gaskets, and full service whilst I was in there.

However, whilst it now runs, it is running quite rich. At low throttle openings it 'shunts' or kangaroos really quite badly. There are no warning lights on the dash.

With a WOT, it is quite hesitant up to about 4k rpm and then goes like a rocket.

I don't really know where to start with this fault TBH. It's like nothing I've seen before.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Fixed.

The wire from the lambda sensor was shorting on the exhaust causing the ECU to think it was running lean.

The plug fouling then caused a misfire resulting in shunting.

New plugs, and wires cable tied out the way and it runs like a dream.
