I'm thinking of buying a satnav, can any one make a suitable suggestion.

Mainly UK driving, with odd trips to France and NW Europe.

Price, around £150.00.

Where would the best place to buy one. E-bay or other similar sites?

Many thanks for any help offered.

Halfords were running discounts recently, Peter. Best thing about Halfords to me is that they seem very easy going with returns.

With Nokia now giving away global Sat Nav maps, on phones, there`s no wonder they are discounting.

We recently went to Germany using a Nokia 5320 phone - (Approx £100) using theSat Nav function, though if you want simplicity it`s probably still best to go for a stand alone (conventional) unit.

The Nokia 520 seemed faster than the widesreen Garmin unit I bought last Summer... and the relevant part of the screen, the depth, is actually deeper.

More info on phone options and map updates if you are interested in that. Updates seem a little clunky to me and it helps if you are a bit of a phone/computer fan.

They are all very much the same using the sirf 2 chip, options to consider are TMC and speed camera warning all add to the cost and are not really required.

The Which? best buys at around £ 150, in descending order of score, and with European mapping, are: Garmin Nuvi 1490T (approx £ 155); Tom Tom One Europe (approx £130); Navigon 4350 Max (approx £143); Garmin Nuvi 265 (approx £ 106).

The prioces above are the best that Which? found and include places like Amazon.co.uk, etc. With some stores, any warranty claims are delat with by the manufacturer directly, rather than with the store itseld (I found this was the case with Garmin).

Make sure you go for a sat nav with European mapping, rather than just the UK/Ireland.
