My local BMW dealer has infomed me today, that the combined BMW & Mini sales totals for September equate to 36% of the U.K. market share for that month. This figure seems extremely high to me & I was wondering if any BR`s can confirm the verity of this statement??

I think the key word here is 'equates.' That is dealerspeak for fiddling the stats to give a representation they like but bears little relation to the actual figures.
To suggests BMW have sold nearly two fifths of all cars sold in the UK during September takes a LOT of believing imho.

Takes more than a lot of believing - I'd be surprised if the total BMW output equates to 36% of car sales in the UK for September. I'd suspect they might be referring to sales in the relevant sector, but again, it would depend how they defined the sectors in question...

I should imagine that 3.6% would be overstating it!

So they are only 30 odd% out then!
