Toyota Corolla Verso - Low mileage - bearing gone - hcm

Went for a test drive in a verso (main dealer) that had done under 35k miles and was 4 years old. Straight away I heard a noise like a wheel bearing along with the car stalling once and nearly stalling when coming up to lights, i.e. braking from 40 or 50 and then coasting in neutral from 5 or 10 mph.

Found out today that it was a wheel bearing - the stalling problem yet to be looked at.

Am I right in thinking that it is odd for a car with such a low mileage should have a bearing go?

Is the stalling a serious concern?

Walk away. Do you really want to inherit a car with problems.

I wonder why the previous owner got shot of it?

Yes, I agree, look elsewhere.

It's yet another example of how main dealers claim to be selling specially selected and checked used cars, but easily spotted faults like these are not picked up and rectified until a punter doscovers them! And they're charging premium prices for these 'approved' cars.

I have very little faith in main dealers' 'approved' used car schemes etc because I've come across faults like engine tickover at 2,000rpm. Surely someone should have noticed before I test drove the car?
