You know how it is (if you`re up for a money saving bodge, like me) something breaks - you bodge it up and hope it will hold together at least until you finish the job. With luck, a little longer, perhaps.
I was oiling the chain on a bike - put it on a shelf - it fell off and broke the handle off. I`d only bought it a few weeks back - so found a bit of malleable sc*** and twisted it around the two parts of the handle with a mole wrench.
Yeah, I remember - hot as it is today and the heat on your back and gratitude that you could still use the oilcan although it`s handle was now loose.
Well, that was 54 years ago and the bodge is still holding. I`ve been using the can ever since - filled with engine oil and used on door hinges and tie rods.
It`s going to be the only oilcan I ever own in my life and it seems up for another 54 yrs - at least.
I can feel my Yorkshire ancestors approval at my `make do and mend`
Any takers for anything similar?
