I have a late 2002 Mazda MPV 2.0 turbo diesel.

Not sure if this is a problem or if it's normal as we've not had it long, but sometimes when it started from cold within the first mile or so there's a noise like a vacuuum cleaner coming from under the bonnet, close to the bulkhead, it lasts for about ten minutes or until you turn off the engine.

It happened this morning and I stopped to check that it wasn't the radiator fans coming on, and it wasn't.

I know this car shares the same engine as the Mazda 6 which has the DPF regeneration thingimibob and I wondered if it was connected to that.

There's no indication of anything malfunctioning at all, just an odd noise and there's nothing in the owners manual about it at all.
