Peugeot 106 - Fuel Consumption - Pablo202

Hi,

If any of you read my last problem with this car....you'll know that I have tried and tried to sort it's little problems.

The fule consumption has been high since we got it and have tried cleaners and filters. It's a 1.1i and don't know what to do to improve the consumption. It's using about £30.00 for about eight miles......Apart from sc***ing it...what can I do.

Thanks again.

Pablo

Couldn't find your other thread, so will suggest the obvious if you're sure not a petrol pump fault -

fuel tank or line leaking - in past I had a BMW that was dripping from the line on to the hot manifold!

running cold - engine temp sensor, thermostat, or oxygen sensor / lamda

wrong or old spark plugs

- that's all I can think of for now.

I take it you mean 80 miles, if it was eight you would be leaving a trail of petrol behind you. How is the car running, does it pull OK, is there any smoke from the exhaust, is the performance normal, does it idle OK, is the engine running cold? I wouldn't have thought it was possible to get the fuel consumption that low, that's about 15 mpg! I would have thought you would have seen some smoke if not flames at that consumption - or are you winding us up?

So sorry....I did mean 80....wife standing behind me giving me earhole.....you know how it is!!!

It pulls fine. No smell of fuel. Starts a bit funny sometimes....but other than that it's ok. Sorry again!!

Have you done a brim to brim tank test to make sure this is the mileage? How many miles have you tested it over? Are you sure someone is not nicking your petrol?
