Ford Galaxy Mk2 1.9TDI automatic - Outer CV replacement : Inner joint popped out - euro driver

I'm changing the outer CV joint (passenger side).

Whilst trying to get the old on off I pulled the driveshaft and seperated the inner joint ( still mounted in the car).

According to some of the 'how to's' you shouldn't do this but, is this such a big deal with the tripod type joint?

Can't you just push it back in or is there a problem doing this?

Do you mean the body of the joint is still in the diff and the inner tripod has pulled out? If so and the rubber boot is not damaged just push it back in....

Ok, Job done.

This was more than just pushing the tripod back in.

One of the rollers had come off so I had to rebuild it.
