Peugeot 306 - Any suggestions on how I can tart up my 306? - Juicy Lucy

I've already had some work done on it by my loving boyfriend. He's lowered the suspension, painted the brake callipers red, fitted flared wheel arches to accommodate the wider alloys, tinted the windows, a full colour coded body kit that matches the custom paint job, HID bulbs, and smoked rear light lenses, a tuned 2.0 turbo engine with dump valve and big bore exhaust. On the inside it has a full leather interior, LED lights illuminating the footwells, along with £4000 worth of stereo, amplifiers and speakers. Not to mention having more buttons on the dash than a Spaceship.

As you can probably tell, I love my car and am very passionate about it. I also love its performance and love nothing better than leaving some chav standing at the lights in his Focus while I tear off into the distance. This is definitely a car for playing in.

I just feel it's missing something else though. I had contemplated having neon lighting fitted underneath but thought that might draw too much attention. Perhaps shoe horn in an even bigger engine, power power power? Some extra sub woofers in the rear?

I assume that you have done all the custom car shows and got into the various car magazines? Move on now, the car is only going to attract unwanted attention and deteriorate.

Sell the car to another enthusiast and move on to another project car that can take a bigger engine (or has one). Something rear drive with a nice V8 to upset Foci even more.

Just out of interest how much more is the insurance from standard to what you have now?

You have told them right?

Dear Miss Lucy.

At the end of the day its still a 306 and therefore a pile of poo. Move on, buy a proper car before you get pregnant and still lhave some money.

I really like her post though. Maybe it's just because it brings out the playful side in me. And she writes better than any chav I know. But I don't think she should sell it, as it's only a 205 and so worth a couple of k, even though "thousands spent". So nobody else will buy it (will they???) and the next project would be another loss making venture. It couldn't really work for business, could it.

It's a 306 and pretty worthless. And deteriorating. Who would put a £4k stereo in such an old worthless car. Or even invest £4k in such an old car.

It probably still qualifies for scrappage though so there's £2k back.

Do you welcome all people like that here? I read somewhere that new people often get attacked and flamed by the regulars, all allied together not allowing anyone into their group.

> Just out of interest how much more is the insurance from standard to what you have now?

As my 306 is over 10 years old I am able to register it on a classic and limited mileage policy for £800 a year. The excess on the policy is a killer though. I have to pay the first £500 of any claim.

> It's a 306 and pretty worthless.

I've had it professionally valued at £4500, but that's not including the stereo equipment.

One of the upcoming modifications is to fit scissor hinges so the front doors open like a Lamborghini. Also to fit a small roof spoiler on the hatch, but I need to speak to the bodyshop to ensure they can match the custom paint job before I go ahead and buy it. I am also on the look out for a digital speedo and rev counter assembly.

I don't know why I'm telling you all of this though. I came here looking for some suggestions, but so far all that's happened is that I've been criticised and ridiculed.

Insured as a classic? They know about the modifications. Car is still worthless to most I am afraid. It is an old car with modifications that appeal to a small number of people.

To the right person the car has value. Someone suggested selling it and moving on to another project and that sounded like an exciting idea to me. There's not much more to do on an old 306 is there. Sell it when it has value.

> They know about the modifications.

Yes.

> Sell it when it has value.

Can't. I love it too much. I would hate to see anyone else driving my baby after all the hard work, money, and dedication I've put into it.

This post makes my head hurt...I cant tell if its a wind up or not!

If its not, my advice would be to get rid of the stereo and all the other chav trinkets, the engine sounds pretty meaty so strip the car to save weight, uprate the brakes, suspension etc and fit poly-bushes all round and you will have a very fast very fun, budget track car!

Hi Lucy - I do apologise if you find some of the comments unwelcoming. It's all good-natured really and some of the guys tend to be a little more vociferous when a lady posts on here (unfortunately only a minority are ladies). Don't take it to heart.

I'd have thought you've probably done enough to your 306 - it sounds suitably individual already Maybe aim for somethng with 6 or 8 cylinders, but in a bigger car designed for a big engine.

When you're ready for this, let us know and twll us what your budget is. People on here will have some fun suggesting to you what to go for. Use the general motoring discussion section and you'll get more replies.
