This car has 2 drive drive belts, one for the pas and one for the alternator. They are probaly worn and need replacing.Make sure the correct type are fitted as they are a slightly larger cross section than a usual belt.hth

thanks for the reply, both belts are less than a year old. there was a lot of screeching from one of the belts in the cold weather but it stopped once the engine warmed up.

Hi, I've had the power steering belt replaced as it went a few months ago but now the other one next to it has gone while i was driving! The Battery light came on and the brakes suddenly became A LOT harder to use and I just made it home... Now i'm safe, I realise I should have changed the other belt at the same time. I don't want to take it in again as funding is pretty low at the moment so..

Could anyone tell me how to change it including which tools and type of belt?

Also, are the brakes supposed to go stiffer when the belt goes and is it going to damage anything if i drive it back (Slowly) to a more suitable location to work on?

I had screeching after I replaced the power steering belt, and i've noticed that it's not a perfect straight line to the other pulley as well.

Any help much appreciated!

Jonny

Tighten your fan belt, simple as that. The vacuum pump for the brake servo is on the back of the alternator, so that's why your brake pedal feels hard. The fan belt on these models more so than most do need to be tight, and properly tight.....

Do you know which tools I have to use to get the new belt on? And method?
Cheers.
