One interesting little fact I read was that its chassis number has been discovered to be the same as another one that hasn't been in a lake for 60 years.

Apologies if this is old news here - I did search but couldn't find anything. Cliff mentioning that he'd read about it elsewhere sent me Googling which throws up quite a few hits showing many possible stories as to why it was at the bottom of a lake.

Looking at the picture near the bottom of the report, of 'a similar blue Bugatti', could it really have reached 'almost' 100mph with a 4 cyl 1.5 engine, flat front and those wind-scoops over the front wheels? Anyone know the bhp?

Probably.
Anyone know the bhp?
No. Perhaps bout 40 DIN, though.

Here is the source of the chassis number story:

Apparently a car in a Japanese collection has the same number.
