03 1.9 Van taking 4 attempts to start when cold - fooblemeister
My 03 Primastar is slow to get going when its been sat overnight - it starts straight away but stalls after 2-3 seconds. This happens a couple of times, then usually on the 4th go it will start and keep running. Then when I first pull away I have no acceleration (can't get past 10mph) for about 20 seconds before it suddenly pulls off and drives fine for the rest of the day.
Any ideas, as I am not mechanically minded and don't want to get fleeced (someone suggested glowplugs but also said they'd cost around £300 to replace?)

Doesn't sound like glowplugs to me.

£300 !!! these items cost between £6 and £10 each at a guess to purchase.

Sound more like a problem of diesel drain back or air in the fuel line.

There should be a diesel priming pump in the engine bay that you cuold try pumping in the morning, before you try to fire it up. Pump it until it gets hard to push anymore...

Yes as above if this is the case replace it the seals perish and allows fuel to return to tank, the poor running is air mixed with fuel.
