01 1.8 Third brake light problem ? - V1ctor
the brake light on the inside of the car on the rear windscreen has come loose and is dangling from its wires, still working.

Is it a legal requirement to have a working rear tail light, or can i just take it off. I have tried previously to stick it back on with superglue, but it only lasted a few months.

If i could take it off, it would make things a lot easier.

I believe if a high level brake light is fitted, it has to work (and be fitted correctly) or it will fail an MOT. If however you took it out altogether, it would pass the MOT. Strangely. (I stand corrected, of course.)

In the meantime, I don't think without it working you would be stopped or fined as long as your 2 normal brake lights are working ok.

I would say that is quite right, the majority of cars don't have them and they pass the MOT.
