04 - 2.2 diesel - Sidelight Fuse Blown - Robbie
The fuse controlling the sidelights has blown, and only discovered this last night.

The headlights are OK, but when I hit the brake pedal, with the ignition switched off, the brake lights work and the rear fog light comes on at the same time

I have a towing bracket and wonder if the associated wiring or relays are the problem.

I'd be grateful for any assistance.

If the towing bracket has only recently been fitted I would think that's quite likely where your problem lies.

I had the towing bracket fitted when I bought the car new in 2004.

If your car has a twin filament brake and side ligh bulb then check on if them has not shorted inside. Regards Peter

is the fog light in the same cluster as the brake lights? sounds like a earth fault.
Pull all the bulbs out of the affected cluster and clean the contacts and metal bulb bodies.

Do both bulbs light up at full brightness? If not its probably a bad earth as mentioned in the last post
