92 1.05 water in rear passenger footwell - rustbucket

I have found the source of the rain water leak into the rear passenger nearside footwell,it is getting in down past the passenger window into the door and then exiting from both the water drain holes in the bottom edge of the door and also between the inner door skin and the door trim (under the storage pocket at the door base).The later is the problem as the water sits on the rubber door seal and then runs over onto the carpet and then into the footwell.Has anyone removed a polo door trim to look inside the door and can tell me if their is some kind of deflector in the door to shed any water out to the drain holes or anything to stop the water exiting insde as apposed to through the drain holes in the boottom of the door.It could be that the drain holes are partially blocked and just causing an over spill.
help appreciated before I remove the door skin next weekend.

Update : Removed door trim and found inner plastic membrane partially disintergrated letting in water at various points. The cure was to replace membrane with suitable strong plastic rubble bag cut and glued and most importantly tucked inside the door to ensure any water exits through drain holes in bottom of door.Replaced door trim / handles ect. Also repeated above on the drivers door as will probably leak in the near future.
