Hi, can anyone help with this problem?
I have recently aquired a 1999 (S) 2.5 diesel Voyager that does't start. The vehicle cut out and failed to restart.
The obvious faults are no glow plug light/no crank(even with clutch depressed)..Fuse 17 (PCM) in the Power Dist. Centre had blown and was replaced by an attending RAC patrol (before I got the car) but made no difference. I've stripped the car considerably checking for poor connections at the PDC, PCM, Junction Box, earths, etc. What is very interesting is that if you power up the Diesel pump stop solinoid with 12v the glow plug light comes on, goes out and the vehicle starts and drives as normal, except that there's no turbo boost. Everything is pointing to the PCM(ECU) loosing a feed/earth. I've got a CD ROM with a complete service manual on, including wiring diagrams, which has been a great help, but some of the diagrams, wire colours, etc don't correspond. The car is perfectly drivable with the bypass, except for the lack of boost!! Does anybody have any ideas?...thanks, Simon

Can you confirm what ASD relay is?
I'm starting to loose sleep with this thing.... I go to sleep dreaming of wiring diagrams!!

I am a tech of 16 years and diagnosing cars is what I do but this thing is "doing my head in"!!!

the ASD relay is in the PDC (fuse box) should say ASD in the lid.

Hi Merlin

I've just checked the wiring diagram and realised what the ASD relay is...the Diesel Power Relay!!... this has been checked and swapped and by passed and has made no difference!.. Any other ideas?..your help is much apprieciated :-)

Hi the fuel pump shut off gets its power from the engine control module. So I wonder if it?s an immobilizer fault. Any warning lights?
Failing that I have to pull a wire diagram my self and you will need to check powers and grounds to the ECM. If they are ok will need so see if there are any fault codes so the ECM is not powering the solenoid for a reason before condemning the ECM.
This is from a 2000 module but see if it helps
ECM C1 plug
Pin 1 ground
2 diesel relay output
27 Ground
28 diesel relay output
33 diesel relay control
47 fused ignition switch output
ECM C2
77 shut off feed
79 solenoid control
