Nationwide Autocentre Fuel Service - Distorted Vision
I was looking at the Nationwide Autocentre 12-point Fuel Service Plus service. I was wondering if anyone had any experience or opinions?
Its £70 and includes an oil and filter change:

Cheers.

Ive heard good and BAD about Nationwide.
I would have thought that an oil change would be part of a service so why pay extra for it?

With all the trouble fuel suppliers take ensure the purity of ther products and the fact that your car has a fuel filter I am not really sure in what way a modern car could/should need a cleaning service of this sort.

Avoid like the plague

Oil System Cleaner A special treatment that cleans the oil system in your engine No Yes
Oil Change Brand new oil using Castrol Magnatec 10W 40 part synthetic*

An oil cleaner sounds like an engien flush, if your car has not had an oil change for a while then flushing it will just make all the dirt get stuck in oil wells causing noisy tappets and other problems.

The second problem is that it states they use 10/40 this oil is not suitable for a lot of cars, on modern 16v Ford engines for example it leads to sticking valves and a host of other problems.

This sort of service may well work well for certain cars but it is far too generic on many cars it can cause more problems than it solves.

This oil and fuel system cleaner nonsense was a part of how our local Vauxhall dealer bumped up the cost of the service on my daughter's 2 year old Corsa.
I think that they referred to it as an "eco service". Yeah. Eco meaning boosting the economy of the dealer rather than having any kind of impact on the world's ecological system.
As everyone else has said, don't go for this con.

sounds a good idea to me seeing the amount of people i meet who dont know how to even open a bonnet never mind check levels and tyre pressures

Yeah but you would say that, you will be the one fixing the damage when they put the wrong oil in.
